Petrolia, PA – December 18, 2012 - The holiday spirit is alive and well in Petrolia, PA, where Sonneborn, a global leader in the manufacture and supply of specialty hydrocarbons, spreads joy, goodwill and cheer throughout the local community with their annual 'Treasure Tree' program, putting big smiles on the faces of children in need.
Giving back to the local community began at Sonneborn in 2003 and has grown over the years into a celebrated annual tradition. The Petrolia plant employees work together with the local school district and churches in identifying those families that are most in need, and begin donating to the fund at the beginning of each new year. Each year the 'Treasure Tree' grows, and 2012 hit an all-time high thanks to the compassion and generosity of the Petrolia team led by Barb Preston, Becky Craig and Ella Bauldoff.
According to Barb Preston, Shipping Supervisor, “We raise money throughout the year to buy local underprivileged children clothes, toys and holiday meals to bring them the wonderful Christmas they deserve.” In addition to volunteering at the local soup kitchen, the folks at Sonneborn’s Petrolia Plant raise money all year long by organizing local community events, including the Tricky Tray where wonderful baskets are supplied by employees and contractors, and through personal contributions to help make the holiday season brighter for the local children of Butler County, PA.
